Dr. Karen D. Todd joined the staff of Vero Beach's Florida Eye Institute in July of 1989. She practices general ophthalmology with an emphasis on the latest treatments and diagnostic testing for glaucoma. She earned her bachelor's degree in Engineering at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee - graduating summa cum laude and being selected to the Tau Beta Phi Honorary Society. She received the Dean's Award for outstanding scholarship, graduating 1st in her class. She went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. While there, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa societies and received the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation for scholastic achievement.

Following her residency in ophthalmology at the University of California in San Francisco, she was selected by the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida in Tampa for fellowship training in glaucoma.

She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been an oral board examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Todd performs glaucoma surgery, laser surgery, eyelid surgery, and cataract surgery.

She is a member of the American Medical Association, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Eye Surgery, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
